Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
- Your chats are end-to-end encrypted. We can't read your messages, photos or voice messages.
- Your profile (name, age, gender, photo, bio, interests) is visible to other people on Will You.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools.
- You can delete your account and data at any time, in the app or by email.
Who we are
Will You is developed and operated by Jai Prabhu J, an individual developer based in India ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
What we collect
Account information
- Email sign-up: your email address and password. We store only a secure hash of your password, never the password itself.
- Google sign-in: your email address, name and Google account ID, received from Google when you choose to sign in with Google.
Profile information
Your name, gender, date of birth, profile photo, bio and interests. We use your date of birth to confirm you are 18 or older and to show your age. Your full date of birth is never shown to other people.
Activity in the app
Likes you give and receive, friend requests and friendships, the people you block, and reports you make. A report stores the reason you chose, any details you write, and the reported person's name and email address so we can review it.
Messages, photos and voice messages
Chats are end-to-end encrypted on your phone before they are sent. Our server only ever handles the encrypted version, which we cannot read.
- An encrypted message is held on our server only until the other person's phone receives it, then deleted. Undelivered messages are deleted after 30 days.
- Encrypted photos and voice messages are held for up to 30 days so they can be downloaded, then deleted. "View once" photos are deleted from our server when they're opened, and within 30 days in any case.
- To deliver messages, we know who is sending to whom and when, while a message is waiting to be delivered.
Purchases
If you buy Will You Plus, the payment is handled by Google Play (or the Apple App Store). We never see your card or bank details. Our payments partner RevenueCat tells us which plan you bought and when your current period ends, so we can switch on Plus features for your account.
Device information
If you allow notifications, a push notification token and your phone's platform (Android or iOS), so we can tell you about new messages and friend requests.
Technical logs
Our server keeps basic request logs (for example which part of the service was used, the time, the result, and your account ID) to keep the service running and secure. We don't store your IP address; it is used only briefly, in memory, to limit abuse such as repeated login attempts.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, call logs or browsing history. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools.
Phone permissions
- Camera: to take a photo when you choose to.
- Photos: to choose a profile photo, share photos in chat and make stickers.
- Microphone: to record voice messages, only while you are recording.
- Notifications: to tell you about new messages and friend requests.
You can turn any of these off in your phone's settings. The related feature will then stop working.
What stays on your phone
Your chat history, decrypted photos and voice messages, your encryption keys, and the stickers you make or save are stored on your phone, not on our server. Deleting the app or your account removes them from that phone. Messages you've already sent stay on the other person's phone.
What other people can see
Other people using Will You can see your name, age, gender, profile photo, bio, interests, how many likes your profile has, and a Plus badge if you have Will You Plus. Your profile photo is stored at a web address that isn't secret, so anyone who has that address can view the photo. Your email address and date of birth are never shown to other users.
How we use your information
- To run Will You: create your account, show your profile, help you discover people, and deliver messages and notifications.
- To keep people safe: enforce our rules and age limit, review reports, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
- To provide Will You Plus to people who buy it.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Encrypted messages: until delivered, or 30 days if never delivered.
- Encrypted photos and voice messages: up to 30 days.
- Plus subscription status: until you delete your account. The stores keep their own purchase records under their own policies.
- Push tokens: until you sign out, the token stops working, or you delete your account.
- Reports: kept after an account is deleted, so we can act on safety issues and prevent repeat abuse. A report about someone keeps their name, email address and the reason given.
Your choices and rights

Security
Chats are end-to-end encrypted, connections to our server use HTTPS, and passwords are stored only as secure hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll let you know before they take effect, for example in the app or by email.
